DOMESTICATION OF DOGS.

BY: Adelina Martins

EUROPEAN WOLF?

  • From testing DNA it is said dogs most likely descended from a European wolf.
  • This specific European wolf is also said to be completely extinct at this point in time.
  • This wolf was only able to leave behind no descendants but no other than dogs.
  • These European wolves soon started following bands of humans.
  • These wolves stayed near eating any scraps left behind from these hunters.

SOON WELCOMED

  • Dogs soon had no issues with people.
  • Not only this but it's said they also protected the people and helped find prey.
  • Soon the popularity for dogs spread all over Europe as they were finally domesticated.

TRAITS

  • Until recently it was predicted that dogs were domesticated near early man.
  • It is now between 18k-32k yrs ago from a burial sight found in Israel.
  • This burial sight contained a elder man skeleton cradling a puppy.
  • It is still unsure the positive ancestor of dogs because of breeding.
  • Breeding occurs for dogs to receive special traits.

CONCLUSION

  • It is most likely that dogs came somewhere in Europe or Asia.
  • One descending from extinct wolves and several extinct from Asia.
  • Most research says dogs were domesticated maybe around 13,000 years ago.
  • From the burial sight in Israel it also proves we always had a strong bond with them.
  • More DNA of modern, ancient, and wolves are always being tested but for now this is all we know.
