Eric The Red

HE REPRESENTED NORWAY WITH PRIDE

• Eric the red was born in Norway in 950 A.D
• He grew up to become a Viking sailing to many countries to pillage them
• Sailed to Iceland in 982 A.D and was banished
• Eric was banished from Iceland for three years for killing two men

TIME OF THE GREAT EXPIDITION

• After being banished in 982 A.D he set sail to a land called Greenland
• Took 4 years to sail from Iceland to Greenland
• Eric was to set sail west of Iceland after he was banished

WHY WAS THE VOYAGE TAKEN

• Eric heard that Gunnbjorn Olfsson saw islands west of iceland
• He took this adventure because we was banished from Norway and Iceland
• Having no where to go Eric decided to find and habitat these islands
• After four years on the water he discovers a large landmass and call it Greenland

CHALLENGES FACED

• Scholars have yet to find and real challenges Eric and his crew had to overcome
• He also had to care for 400 to 500 seamen along with his self

EVIDENCE OF PERSISTENCE

• If he didn't make the trip he would be killed by either the sea or the people of Iceland
• Do or die at its finest

RESULTS

• The results of this adventure was he found Greenland
