  • Gouverneur Morris (January 31 1752-November 6 1816)
  • One of the Founding father's of the US
  • Signed both the articles of confederation and the constitution of the US
  • Federalist

BACKGROUND

  • Originally from New York City
  • At age 12 he Enrolled at Kings College, now Columbia college of Columbia University, in 1764
  • He graduated in 1768 and received a Master's degree in 1771

CLAIM TO FAME

  • Represented Pennsylvania in the Constitutional Convention of 1787
  • Was a author of large sections of the Constitution of the United States
  • Widely credited as the author of the constitution preamble
  • Often called the "Penman of the Constitution"

IN 1816, MORRIS DIED AFTER STICKING A PIECE OF WHALE BONE THROUGH HIS URINARY TRACT TO RELIEVE A BLOCKAGE.
