  • Had a position in Ernest Rutherfords laboratory
  • Won nobel prize in 1916 for physics
  • He passed away before he was able to accept it

  • Original periodic table created by Mendeleev
  • Ordered by atomic weight
  • Gaps existed in the table
  • He could not prove elements he thought to exist

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN

  • Used X-rays and various elements
  • And determined a relationship.
  • Indirect relationship between wave length and atomic weight
  • Bringing new meaning to the atomic number.
  • As the number of protons in the nucleus increases the wave length decreases
