What is it?

  • Morphine is a drug created to treat moderate to severe pain
  • It is considered a narcotic analgesic, or an opiod
  • It is mainly used in hospitals and doctor's offices to treat pain
  • Although it is used to treat pain, it can be highly addictive
  • It can be injected or taken orally

Behaviors

  • When taken in small doses, euphoria occurs
  • When taken in larger quantities, confusion and
  • Disorientation are common
  • Hallucination is also a common side effect

Short-term Effects

  • Hallucination, Disorientation, Confusion
  • Memory Loss
  • Can lead you to become extremely happy

long-term effects

  • Addiction
  • Loss of ability to breath
  • Memory Impairment

  • Binds to and activates the opioid receptors
  • Changes how brain retrieves pain signals
  • Also blocks pain receptors
