NATIONAL UPRISING IN POLAND 1830

  • The November Uprising in Poland of 1830 was a very important event in Poland history.
  • It started because of the faulty constitution made between Russia and Poland tby the Tsar of Russia.
  • It stated to give Poland a self-government system. Russia still ruled Poland after the constitution
  • This angered citizens of Poland. People including Piotr Wysocki decided to change this.
  • The first outbreak began.

NOVEMBER NIGHT

  • The first outbreak happened at the Belweder Palace located in the capital Warsaw.
  • 23 citizens including Piotr Wysocki gathered people and weapons and invaded.
  • They killed six officials but missed their main target, which was the Great Duke Constantine.
  • The Great Duke Constantine escaped in women's clothing.
  • After the invasion, the citizens took over the entire capital of Warsaw.

AFTER THE INVASION

  • November night caused the Polish government to have to gather with the Russian government to negotiate peace terms.
  • Russian officials did not like the idea so they started an uprising and sent out soldiers to combat the Polish.
  • The result was the Russo-Polish War of 150,000 Polish soldiers against 190.000 Russian soldiers.
  • Fights occurred in Warsaw’s Lazienki Park Bridge, Šiauliai, and Bialoleka.
  • The war lasted one year.

The battle of Olszynka Grochowska

  • The battle of Olszynka Grochowska was the biggest fight in the November Uprising.
  • It took place in the outskirts of Bialoleka on February 24, 1831.
  • It lasted a day and took the lives of at least 16,000 soldiers from both sides of the war
  • This fight was a result of a sneak attack by the Polish as a counter attack.
  • It caused the cancel of the plan to take back Warsaw from Polish forces and was the last war fought.

AFTER MATH

  • The November Uprising was the struggle to gain the self-government Poland never received through the constitution of Poland that was granted by Russia.
  • The result was the grant for this self-government system the country wanted.
