Over 1,000 women crossed the Chilkoot Or White Pass Trail between 1896-1900

Women's clothes made it harder
High heeled boots, bloomers, corsets
Ankle length skirts, blouses and bonnets
Had to care for children
Complete all domestic chores: cook, clean, laundry, etc.

Emilie Fortin- 21 year old French Canadian crossed Forty Mile

Made her fortune building roadhouses and hotels
