Learning how to develop an Online Teaching strategy
Most: Assuming that the students are smart, even though where online teaching is concerned we might be "dummies". The small group work last Friday in Adobe Connect--really amazing, and a different take on the webinar format.
The course is inspirational and supportive. I love the flexability.
I like having the experience of taking an online course.
Even though I have faciliated online courses for over three years, I've developed courses without training. The MOOCow provides some structure plus I am looking forward to the remainder of the course.
The form experts speaks and respt learners
Learning and experimenting with teachers who have been involved in e-learning for a good while and are able to share tips, techniques, and advice. The live learning opportunity with someone familiar with low-threshold, Web-based software is particularly useful!
Most: It is putting tools into my hands and giving me practice with skills as soon as I think of them. It's uncanny how the course presents exactly what I want to learn just as I realize I want to learn it.
Least: Chaotic. There are too many cooks in the kitchen. I often feel overwhelmed by the number of presenters, the number of emails, etc. The website has too many different fonts, boldings, underlinings, etc. There is too much going on all at once. I would prefer just Beth and the woman in the first synchronous session who has an African-American voice. She's very practical and grounded, and gave very clear direction to the presenters on how to be helpful to students.
Several e-mail reminders. Links available and working. Step by step directions.
The website's navigation is not logically organized. For example, visitors (including me) have problems logging into the site because the Login Live Session menu item is too far down the page to see without scrolling. By convention, login areas are near the top right of the screen. The problem is the same with logging out of a Live Session -- can't figure how to log out and the nothing informs the user whether or not logging out is necessary or not.
One of the main problems that I have is that since Google+ is not fully accessible (ref: Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) via CSU system) our campus does not allow it as part of our campus Google application (even though we are a Google campus). Same thing with GoogleSites. So, I can read others' comments, but cannot post.
MOST: I like the synchronous sessions. I like that we interact with such a diverse group of learners and instructors.
LEASE: I guess I miss the LMS-look and feel. There is no Assignments tool and I have no way of seeing my GRADE or PROGRESS and I get confused about what I have done and what I need to do this week and what I need to do overall. They do send a checklist though and that is helpful, but the course design is a bit too disconnected for my style.
Its confusing with so many people talking and presenting at once. Maybe one document that states what the learning process will be week to week would help.
It would help if I could spend more time(!), but the time issue is why I chose unsupported DIY.
A tutorial to gettig the webcasts onto my I Phone...
Discuss more the difference in online use for complete beginners. The first time I logged on, it was very jarring how interactive it was. I don't use the internet in this way and I had some adjustments to make.
Familiar functions and processes used by the leading Learning Management Systems, e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, and others.
Nothing unfortunally, I have not time to study more:(

It's probably too late to cut down on the number of presenters or to tidy up the website. That would be confusing to your current students. Otherwise, I would say keep up the good work.
Maybe have a designated place on the forum or website for students to get help when Adobe crashes, or finding the YouTube sign-up on Google+, both of which are questions I asked that have not yet been answered. Or a designated tech-troubleshooting person.
I need more time in my schedule.
Start and end on time. I signed up for this course with the impression that the live, online sessions would just be an hour long. I cannot commit much more time beyond that.
Less text and more "list" or bullet point info. Emails are also very lengthy and students are more likely to read if given a list of to-dos, rather than a long email/text instructions.
I missed Friday, October 25th Synchronous session because of a planned vacation. I should have attended and that would have made things a bit better. I really think all is going well. I am mostly interested in how they are conducting the hard-to-conduct for free synchronous sessions. I do not know how to orchestrate those and, frankly, I have been scared to try. Real-time failures or tech problems hurt a lot worse than those experienced asynchronously.
Everything has been very well thought out. The interactions have been great.
It would be a more consistant participation if I could get my I Phone to log onto the web cast.
Very good but I'm lagging behind because of work.
Missed second session plus microphone usage but enjoy sessions attended (Session 1 and yesterday's wrapup).
I fee a litle confuse, becouse I have direcctiones for several ways
Fine. I can't spend a lot of time doing this, but I can put a reasonable amount of time on the MOOCow. Having different paths for taking the class is particularly helpful!
See above.
Access to course content is excellent. I am not interacting with course facilitators and other partcipants, at this time.
Fine. Interactions seem to work well and I feel I am a part of the group of participants.
see answer to q2
It is fine. I like a smoother, more LMSish look and feel.
I've accessed only once so I'm not qualified to say.
As we discussed last time, the discussion questions are just a way to keep people thinking about what they should be thinking about, and that makes them valuable. Also, setting thresholds deliberately low makes it easy to participate.
Yes
I haven't used it much
Even though I've viewed Google+ for some time, I've never given it consideration for course usage.
I haven't spent a lot of time in the discussion forum. I do think the Google+ Community is a good tool for this purpose.
Google+ Communities has not been good for discussions. Not many people have used it, and no one has responded to my posts, beyond socially. I don't really mind about that. But if it is an objective of yours, I don't think it's being met. However, I do like answering the questions just for myself, regardless of whether or not people respond.
I haven't had time to use the discussion tools.
The discussion questions make me think. Have not had much discussion in the Google+ Communities. However, did use the forum to access example intro videos that others had posted.
love discussions! see q2 in relation to Google+
Google +, to my knowledge and from my experience, does not thread messages in a way that I find user friendly. I feel like our Google + is a place to Announce or do a SHOUT OUT about the question posed.
Yes, it's showing me how much I need to learn. Very hesitant to make a video of myself talking. I teach face-to-face and enjoy the experience 'live.'
The synchronous sessions are like an anchor in a sea of possibilities. There is no time to pursue some of the side activities, but I can often make it to a Friday afternoon online session.

Yes
Yesssss, for me is the best!
Definitely! Having real live experience with the meeting software is great!
I have only been able to duck in and out of the sessions b/c my office has been kind of crazy. But what I have attended has been helpful.
Yes.
Yes, the synchronous sessions keep me connected and engaged with the course. And I learn things I never would have known about before.
have not partaken
YES. That is the main reason I enrolled in the MOOCow.
I appreciate the coordinated efforts of the MOOCow presenters but feel it would benefit me more if it were in person.
So many new tools to use! This makes teaching much more adventurous than it could be.
no
I look forward to reviewing and trying some of the programs recommeded, e.g., TooFast, Socrative, PollAnywhere, and others.
Thanks, all of you for your effort an genoristy
I'm now a member of TLT, and I typically try to participate in the FridayLive! sessions. So I receive many e-mails. Sometimes it gets a bit tricky keeping everything straight.
On the first day, many people were confused about how to log into the Adobe meeting space. I gleaned how to do it from the directions, but they could have been clearer. For example, "You use your email address for both the Username and the PWD."
And—thank you so much for this course. You've all put a lot of work into it, have really great positive energy (even if overwhelming), and it couldn't be more timely.
