variety

Choose interesting topics, use cases, and themes
Whether it's creating a cool visual portfolio, showcasing your blog traffic stats, or illustrating how to eat a pomegranate, we love seeing Haiku Deck used in creative ways.

Bonus points for creatively incorporating less frequently used Haiku Deck themes. For ideas, check out Presentation Templates with Pizzazz:

content value

inform, illuminate, inspire
We are definitely looking for high content value in our Gallery decks. If your deck can teach somebody something, explain or clarify something, share valuable insights, or make them feel inspired, you're on the right track!

style

be creative and original
Haiku Deck is designed to encourage creative flow, so give yourself time to find it!

Play around with striking imagery and vivid language. See if you can find a theme to tie your whole deck together, or a clever hook that makes people want to read it.

Substance

Include 5+ Slides; no blank slides
Decks should feel finished, with at least a handful of slides and a compelling title (Hint: "Test Deck" is not a compelling title.) Make sure you haven't accidentally added a blank slide at the end!

visual storytelling

go beyond the literal and the cliche
There's an art to visual storytelling, and we're looking for powerful, evocative imagery that adds layers and depth to your message. Don't just type in the words on your slide; think about the underlying meaning and what emotions you're trying to trigger. We recommend giving yourself plenty of time to play with lateral thinking. Sometimes it takes a few different image search (or scrolling beyond the first few results) to find the perfect metaphor or creative inspiration.

brevity

minimize slide text
Haiku Deck is built to encourage best practices in presentation design -- for example, staying focused on one idea per slide and minimizes text on each slide. You'll notice that as you type, the size of the type adjusts automatically. If you words get very small, that's a clue that you need to trim down your text! (Ditto for Haiku Deck numbered and bulleted lists.) Less is more!

detail

add color and context with public notes
With the Public Notes feature, you can add supporting detail to complement your deck while keeping your slides uncluttered. We definitely favor Haiku Decks that have been turned into killer content assets with great Public Notes and deck descriptions.

Polish

double-check for spelling and grammar
The bad news: You'd be surprised how many decks we get with typos, errors, and it's/its mixups. Be sure to go over your work with a fine-toothed comb before you submit!

The good news: If you do spot a typo, you can easily fix it and republish your deck without breaking any links you've sent out already.

send us your best work
