WHERE THE PYGMY MARMOSET LIVES

  • The Pygmy lives in the western amazon basin in the South America .
  • It's generally found in the evergreen and river edge forests.
  • Their habitat is in tropical rain forests, preferably seasonally flooded forests

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE PYGMY MARMOSET

  • It's family is the cebidae.
  • The Pygmy males weigh around 4.9 oz. and the females weigh 4.2 oz.
  • It's known to be the worlds smallest monkey
  • Marmosets usually have twins,triplets, and quadruplets!

BABY MARMOSETS

  • Newborns must be fed every two hours around the clock.
  • Marmosets are hard to keep.
  • When a baby marmoset is taken away from its family it can die quickly due to depression.
  • The marmosets dad will often carry the babies after birth until they are old enough to be on their own

MARMOSETS LIFE SPAN

  • Marmosets usually live up to 6-9 years.
  • It is rare that they live up to 15 years.

MARMOSET DIET

  • They eat sap and gum from trees which are located in their territory
  • Marmoset also eat spiders,butterflies,frogs,lizards,snails,flowers, and grasshoppers
  • The grasshopper is its favorite food.
  • They drink fresh water all the time.
  • When fed in capacity they eat peas,baby cereal,yogurt,meat,fish,rice, and boiled eggs.

  • Pygmy's use their claws to drill a hole into the tree to get sap
  • They travel in groups of up to 9 members.
  • The parents stay together for life, never leaving each other's side if possible
  • They can leap 15 feet into the air
