FREEDMEN'S BUREAU

• Definition:It was created by the U.S congress to help former slaves : provided them free basic needs.
• Ex: THe freedmen bureau gave the slaves free medicine, food, and clothing.

FREEDMEN

• Definition:A person who has been freed from slavery.
• Ex: Life was not easy for the freemen some didn't have homes or jobs.

14th AMENDMENT

• Definition: citizenship to former slaves.
• Ex: Many slaves wanted this amendment so they can do what other people do.

15th AMENDMENT

• Definition: African american men got the right to vote.
• Ex: when this amendment was made african americans were happy that they can vote.

KU KLUX KLAN

• Definition: They were white racists that terrorized the african american community.
• Ex: The Ku klux klan would wore hoods so they wont be recognize.

MARCH 8, 1870

• When Texas was readmitted into the Union.
• President Ulysses declared the reconstruction process over in Texas.

GOVERNOR EDMUND DAVIS

• He proposed several programs that the legislature made into laws.
• The legislature gave Davis the authority to declare martial law.
