1972 Europe- Rohypnol was first created by Hoffman-La Roche pharmaceuticals as a sleeping aid and anesthetic.
1990s- Rohypnol gained recognition in the US as a club drug

Human beings (usually men) slip Rohypnol into an unsuspecting persons drink
The drug kicks in, and the perpetrator escorts the victim to a more isolated location
The perpetrator sexually assaults his victim
