  • The earliest form of art in this region was sculpture, metalwork and buildings

LANGUAGE

  • Arabic is this regions main language
  • Turkic languages are spoken mainly in Central Asia
  • Other languages spoken are, Hebrew and Berber

RELIGION

  • Even with modern technology religion remains a large part of daily life
  • Three major religions originated in this region they are
  • Christianity
  • Islamic - this is the most practiced religion in this region
  • Judaism

DAILY LIFE

  • Less than 50% cultivate the land and very few are nomads
  • Daily life revolves around family, religion, education and recreation
  • In older cities people live in stone or mud buildings
  • Some areas don't have running water or electricity

GOVERNMENT

  • Only 8 countries are under rule of a king/queen
  • Iraq and Libya are under military dictators
  • The rest are rebublic though in varying in many ways
