The Cicones

Odysseus and his men invaded the city of Cicones and kills many people. When Odysseus ordered his men to get back on the ship, they didn't listen because they haven't been on land for a while and wanted to eat. Then an army came and fought with Odysseus's men.

Lotus Eaters

Odysseus and his men encounter lotus' on an island and when his men ate it they did not want to go back on the boat because they became relaxed.

The Cyclops

Odysseus is curious and wants to see a cyclops. They go to an island to see one and some of the men are eaten by the cyclops. They had a hard time getting off so Odysseus makes up a plan to injure the cyclops and leave the island.

Island of Aeolus

Aeolus, god of the winds, gives Odysseus a bag of bad winds to help him get home safely. His crew disobeys orders and opens the bag.

Laestrygonians

On the land of Laestrygonian, every ship was destroyed and every crew member was gone. But Odysseus's ship and men lived. So they sail on to the land of Aeaea.

Island of Circe

The goddess Circe feeds the men food and gives them wine. When she is sure they are intoxicated, she throws them in a pig pen with her hogs. Odysseus runs into Circe's hall from his ship where he is given a plant by Hermes that will weaken Circe's power. Odysseus ends up a prisoner of Circe.

The Land of the Dead

Odysseus and his men go to the land of the Dead to find Teiresias. While they were there, Odysseus saw his mother. Since he had been gone for so long, he did not know his mother died.

Circe

Odysseus receives warning about three obstacles he is about to face.

The Sirens

The sirens sing and whoever hears the song is put in a trance. Odysseus puts beeswax in his men's ears so they won't hear the singing, and his men tie Odysseus to a pole so he can hear the music but not go towards it.

Scylla and Charybdis

Scylla is a six headed sea monster and Charybdis is a whirlpool. Odysseus and his men must choose what path to go to; loose six men to Scylla or loose all the men and the ship to Charybdis.

The Sun God (Helios)

Odysseus and his men end up on the sun god Helios's island where he keeps his cattle. Odysseus tells his men not to eat the cattle but the men don't listen. So Helios kills all Odysseus's men.

Calypso

Calypso is a beautiful goddes who has captures Odysseus and keeps him with her for seven years.

The Land of the Phaecians

Odysseus goes to the land of the Phaecians where he is treated very kindly by the gods and goddess's there. He tells them his story of his journey home.
