GEORGE WASHINGTON

George Washington was our first President of the United States of America. The people of the 13 colonies loved him and after the war they needed a leader. George did not want to at first but ended up taking the job as President. They first wanted to call him king but George said he didn't want to be called that because they just got away from a king. Then he created the Precedents set which made any president only run for two terms. He was President for the USA in 1789 to 1797. George Washington died on December 4, 1799.

JOHN ADAMS

John Adams was the second President of the United States. He first served as Vice President under George Washington. When George declined a third term in 1797 Adams took the opportunity and became the second President of the United States. And created the XYZ Affair that mention confrontation between the United States and Republican France that led to an undeclared naval war called the Quasi-War. The name derives from the substitution of the letters X, Y and Z for the names of French diplomats in documents released by the Adams administration. It led to the undeclared Quasi-War (1798 to 1800). John Adams died in 1738!

THOMAS JEFFERSON

Thomas Jefferson Was Born on April 13 1743. Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence at the age of 33. He drafted the Virginia State Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom in 1777. Then
President Thomas Jefferson wrote this prediction in an April 1802 letter to Pierre Samuel du Pont amid reports that Spain would retrocede to France the vast territory of Louisiana. That was called the Louisiana Purchase! Jefferson's vision of obtaining territory from Spain was altered by the prospect of having the much more power than France and Spain. Thomas Jefferson died on July 4, 1826.

JAMES MADISON

James Madison was born on March 16, 1751. He was first elected on March 3, 1809. He served for 2 terms and left on March 4, 1817. His nick name was the Father of the Constitution. The fledgling United States needed to flex its muscle one more time to convince Great Britain so James got into the war that was the War of 1812! After the war our flag was still up and we won! James Madison died on June 28, 1836.

JAMES MONROE

James was born on April 28, 1751. He served two terms March 4, 1817-March 3, 1825. His most famouse quote was "The American continents are henceforth not to be considered as subjects for future colonization by any European powers. "
President James Monroe’s 1823 annual message to Congress contained the Monroe Doctrine, which warned European powers not to interfere in the affairs of the Western Hemisphere. He was also in the First Seminole War. His first wife was named Elizabeth Kortright. James died on July 4, 1831.

JOHN QUINCY ADAMS

John Quincy Adams was the son of John Adams. He was born on July 11, 1767. He was in office in March 4, 1825-March 3, 1829. He only served one term. While he is in office the Erie Canal Opens. Adams supported a federal role in economic development through the American System that was chiefly associated with Henry Clay. The America System was the policy of promoting industry in the U.S. by getting a high protective tariff and of developing internal improvements by the federal government. John died in 1848.

ANDREW JACKSON

Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767. Andrew Jackson joined the Continental Army at 13. He and his brother were captured and held for two weeks. Andrew Jackson was a lawyer in North Carolina and then Tennessee. In 1824, Jackson ran for President against John Quincy Adams. They voted for him because he was a common man and he would understand the peoples way of life. Nullification was a concept used by John C Calhoun to protect slavery and the political positions of politicians from slave states. Andrew Jackson replied that none other than James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, agreed with his position and expressed that right under the Virginia Resolution. Andrew Jackson died in 1767 the year his son was born.
