WHY WE CHOSE GERMANY (1933-1945)

  • We chose nazi Germany a time where Jewish people were discriminated.
  • Being blamed for acts they did not commit
  • Pushing them into hiding and not being able to learn regularly they used books that hitler banned

START OF NAZI GERMANY AND BOOK CENSORSHIP

  • The rise of nazi Germany began in 1933 under the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler.
  • Book censorship was high during this time period due to the hierarchy not wanting you to know about democracy
  • Enforcing the law very harsh if found guilty by having undercover agents to check on suspects to see if they had a banned book.

EXAMPLES OF BOOK CENSORSHIP

  • A banned book example is All quiet on the western front for it being about a German soldier struggles throughout WW1
  • Banned because of its depiction of a German soldier it was burned with all other banned books by the nazi's
  • To control the press about them only to be able to talk about what they have done in a nice way.

VIOLATION OF OUR FIRST AMENDMENT

  • The banning of books is clear violation of our 1st amendment.
  • It didn't allow writers to let their ideas come to life and made it hard for the Jews to learn since they went into hiding and their only way to learn was through books.
  • On this side of the world there is censorship made by school due to them believing that some books are to sexual for their students too read and over 6,364 cases have been made.

TISSUE BOX AND TRASH CAN

  • We believe these items are in our daily lives making them common and people would go by them without second thoughts
  • The tissue box would hide small items or small books. While the Trash Can would be able to hold textbooks and other bigger items.
