• Liu Bang was the first emperor of the Han Dynasty
• He named it after his native land

HAN WUDI

• He implemented a national education system that trained civil officials
• He focused on administrative centralization and imperial expansion

LAND AND REFORM

• They had a hard time since they didn't earn a lot. The Han Emperors
• depended on the large landowners and didn't care for small ones.
• Wang Mang limited the amount of land a family could own
• He gave landless individuals property to cultivate. This ended badly.
