ACT ONE

SCENE ONE

  • Lightning crashes
  • Three witches appear
  • Chant a plan to meet Macbeth
  • They disappear

SCENE TWO

  • Duncan asks about the battle
  • Macbeth & Banquo kicked butt
  • Thane of Cawdor defeated
  • Thane of Cawdor is executed for treason
  • Ross goes to tell Macbeth about his new title

SCENE THREE

  • Thunder roars and witches appear
  • They see Macbeth coming
  • They say he's Thane of Glamis, Cawdor, and will be King of Scotland
  • They say Banquo's kiddies will be king

SCENE THREE CONT'D

  • Ross tells Macbeth about being another Thane
  • Macbeth asks Banquo if he hopes his kids will be kings
  • Banquo says the devil tells half-truths to win people over
  • Macbeth wonders if he has to do something not-so-good to become king

SCENE FOUR

  • Duncan thanks Macbeth and Banquo
  • He names Malcolm to be his heir

SCENE FIVE

  • Macbeth writes to his wife about the witches
  • She reads the letter
  • She starts plotting to herself
  • Tells Macbeth her ideas when he comes home

SCENE SIX

  • Lady Macbeth receives Duncan
  • They have a feast

SCENE SEVEN

  • Macbeth has doubts about killing Duncan
  • Lady Macbeth tells him to be a man
  • She basically emasculates him

ACT TWO

SCENE ONE

  • Macbeth hallucinates
  • He sees a dagger in front of him
  • He kills the king

SCENE TWO

  • Macbeth returns from killing the king
  • He feels, like, super guilty
  • Lady Macbeth confronts him
  • She tells him off for bringing the murder weapon back

SCENE THREE

  • Macduff rolls up in the play
  • He finds the dead Duncan
  • Macbeth kills Duncan's guards
  • That makes Macduff suspicious
  • Malcolm and Donalbain realise they're in danger
  • They run away

SCENE FOUR

  • Macduff talks about how Macbeth was made king
  • He goes home to Fife
  • And he decides not to go to the coronation

ACT THREE

SCENE ONE

  • Banquo thinks abou the prophecies from the witches
  • Macbeth and his wifey enter to invite him to a banquet
  • He goes riding with his son
  • Macbeth thinks about his fear of Banquo
  • So Macbeth sends murders to Banquo and his son

SCENE TWO

  • Macbeth talks out his troubles with his wife
  • He's not happy
  • He won't tell her the next part of his plan
  • She has to stay innocent until the plan has happened

SCENE THREE

  • The murders kill Banquo
  • Fleance, his son, escapes

SCENE FOUR

  • During the feast, Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo in his seat
  • He gets scared
  • Lady Macbeth covers for her husband
  • Even though she doesn't know what's going on

SCENE FIVE

  • The witches meet Hecate
  • Hecate's the goddess of witchcraft
  • She tells the witches off for meddling
  • She says she's taking over now
  • Hecate promises to make visions for Macbeth
  • They are supposed to give him false security

SCENE SIX

  • Two Lords talk about Banquo dying
  • They're suspicious of Macbeth
  • They also talk about Macduff going to England

ACT FOUR

SCENE ONE

  • Macbeth visits the witches
  • They give him new prophecies
  • 1. Beware Macduff
  • 2. No one born of man can harm Macbeth
  • 3. Eight kings hold a mirror. They're all Banquo's kids

SCENE TWO

  • Macbeth sends murders after Macduff
  • Macduff isn't there
  • So they kill his wife and children instead

SCENE THREE

  • Macduff finds out about his family
  • He gathers English armies
  • They're ready for revenge

ACT FIVE

SCENE ONE

  • Lady Macbeth sleep walks
  • She acts out washing her hands

SCENE TWO

  • Scottish Lords talk about the military situation

SCENE THREE

  • Macbeth boasts that nothing bad will happen
  • He hears about the English army, and gears up
  • Doctors tell Macbeth about what's wrong with his wife, and he tells them to cure her

SCENE FOUR

  • The army decides to twke branches from Burnham Woods
  • They use it as a camouflage

SCENE FIVE

  • Macbeth hears that his wife killed herself
  • He also finds out that the branches from the English army are from Burnham Woods
  • He gets scared now

SCENE SIX

  • The battle starts outside of the castle

SCENE SEVEN

  • Macbeth kills anyone he sees
  • He shows no fear

SCENE EIGHT

  • Macduff searches for Macbeth

SCENE NINE

  • Malcolm enters the castle

SCENE TEN

  • Macbeth and Macduff meet
  • Macbeth learns the Macduff was a Caesarian baby
  • But he just won't quit

SCENE ELEVEN

  • Macduff comes out of the castle
  • He has Macbeth's head in his hand
  • Macbeth died
