Boxer the Unknowing Leader
Kirby Dent

"Fools! Fools! shouted Benjamin, prancing round them and stamping the earth with his small hoofs. "Fools! Do you not see what is written on the side of that van?"...

" 'Alfred Simmonds, Horse Slaughterer and Glue Boiler, Willingdon. Dealer in Hides and Bone-Meal. Kennels Supplied.' Do you not understand what that means? They are taking Boxer to the knacker's!"

This passage relates to the theme of betrayal, because Napoleon sends Boxer off to the knackers even after all his hard work. It shows that when Boxer has given his everything for Napoleon and the farm, Napolean still killed him for the benefit of his own good.

"Starting in the late 1920's, Joseph Stalin launched a series of five-year plans intended to transform the Soviet Union from a peasant society into an industrial super power. His development plan was centered on government control of the economy and included the forced collectivization of Soviet agriculture, in which the government took control of farms. Millions of farmers refused to cooperate with Stalin's orders and were shot or exiled as punishment."

This quote has a historical connection because it goes to show that Stalin killed civilians who did not follow his orders. This is alike Napoleon because they both became very brutal as they gained power and betrayed those who worked hard for them.
