Why it matters

  • We see & interpret the world through our own experiences
  • We center our own ideas of "normal"
  • We struggle to make space for unfamiliar experiences
  • We marginalize non-dominant cultures as a matter of habit.

Culturally Responsive?

  • Learning environments where differences in identities are understood and appreciated;
  • Non-dominant identities experience belonging that is not contingent on assimilation.

4 Rules for QFT

  • Ask as many questions as you can.
  • Do not stop to discuss, judge, or answer the questions.
  • Write down and number every question exactly as it is stated.
  • Change any statement into a question.
