Function

• The endocrine system is responsible for producing and releasing hormones. These hormones regulate metabolism, growth and development, sleep, mood, etc.

Specialized Cells

• There are several different cells exclusive to the endocrine system
• The cells differ from gland to gland
• The cells are responsible for manufacturing and releasing hormones

Tissues/Organs

• The tissues of the endocrine system are synonomus with the organs
• The glands which make up the endocrine system are the tissues
