Electricity giant Eskom has warned of more outages this week as it investigates the cause of an accident at one of its power stations.
Market watchers say the blackouts could have far-reaching implications for the SADC countries South Africa exports to.
The shortfall by Eskom has largely been attributed to deteriorating, underserviced power plants as well as to delays in the completion of major new power stations.
