GENIUS HOUR

In order to create a memorable presentation we must find out how memory works.

Memory depends on how well we encode information.

SO WHY DO WE FORGET?

REASON #1

WE OFTEN FORGET BECAUSE WE DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO CONTENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

If you were asked to draw a Penney from memory, could you?

What about the lower right icon in the bottom of your phone home screen , what is it?

If you were asked whether green or red is on the top or bottom of a traffic light could you answer with certainty?

WE PAY ATTENION TO ONLY A SMALL PORTION OF THE WORLD AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT.

REASON #2

SOME INFORMATION IS TO SIMLAIR.

Do you know if the slogan below belongs to FedEx, ups , or dhl.
______ provides the most reliable overnight delivery services.

Contrary to popular belief , reputation does not always lead to better memory.

When memories compete with other memories we get to much interference.
So we forget.

REASON #3

CONTENT IS NOT Processed DEEPLY.

Sometimes we worry to much about the properties of a slide (font or graphics), instead of the meaning of the slide.

IF SOMEONE TOLD YOU THE CAPITAL OF TENNESSEE IS NASHVILLE YOU MAY FORGOT.

But if someone said you were vacationing in they capital of Tennessee, Nashville, and you had the best time of your life, and won the lottery, you may remember.
