PRESENTATION OUTLINE
I am from sunflowers.
From dragon tales and leap frogs.
I am from handprints in concrete slabs,
Roses, bats.
It sounded like chaos. I am from the strawberry bushes,
The pear tree of utter despair.
I am from peanut butter cookies
And utter blindness.
I am from corny inside jokes,
From be as good as gold
And mind your own business. I’m from accepting everyone the way the are,
And spreading kindness like confetti.
I’m from St. Joe and Trenton,
Fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
From air conditioner fights that end with stitches,
The restful bathroom remodel.
A small photo book under my pillow, lays the faces that sift through my dreams.
I am from these memories—Blessed upon arrival—
A completely stressed mess.
