One in six people who play the pokies regularly has a severe gambling problem.

People with gambling problems are six times more likely than non gamblers to get divorced.

People who have a problem with their gambling lose an average of $21,000 a year. That’s a third of the average annual salary.

Australians spent more than $19 billion on gambling in 2008-09; around $12 billion of which was spent playing the pokies
