LESSONS ON THE KINGDOM
The persecutions of the present and future will not be those of style, but of substance. As the saints of old were persecuted and killed for introducing Christ to a world to whom Christ was completely foreign, so will we be hated for the substance of our message and the stance of our faith. "Holy roller" is no longer a slur, speaking in tongues is acceptable and has been co-opted by denominational movements, ecstatic, contemporary worship is embraced, and while we still look different from the rest of the world, it isn't such a big deal to them anymore because of the "live and let live" mentality that is prevalent. Religion is innocuous. Spirituality is rampant. We must mind the lessons of the past and understand our Kingdom lineage, our apostolic heritage.
My great-grandfather Riley Jones, in his last days spent in a nursing home, told my brother and I that he had had a vision from The Lord. He stated that Robert and I were two olive trees, referring to the scripture from Rev. 11:4. I don't supposed to be the biblical witnesses in fulfilling scripture. I do however seriously consider that these that were described in prophecy were witnesses who prophesied publicly and were beheld by all the nations in both power and suffering/death. That vision for me is a part of my kingdom lineage. Now I have to build a kingdom legacy to leave behind.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Revelation 12:9-11 KJV)
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff. By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. (Hebrews 11:17-22 KJV)
Kingdom legacy allows that the mission may not be accomplished in my lifetime, it may pass to my children, and even their children. And so they need to be prepared, to be handed the best of the best that I have to offer.
