Plot Summary: The White family is spending a cozy evening together around the hearth when an old friend comes to visit.

Sergeant-Major Morris

He's been gone for 20 years in India, and entertains with exotic stories.

He gives Mr. White a mummified monkey's paw. It is said to have had a spell cast upon it by a holy man called a 'fakir.' It will grant its owner three wishes.
