LACTIC ACID PROPERTIES

  • Molecular Weight 90.07794 g/mol
  • Aqueous crystalline solution, mild acidic taste.
  • Melts at 16.8°C(62.24°F) & boils at 122°C(251.6°F)
  • Acidity: 3.86
  • Clear liquid

LACTIC ACID HAZARDS

  • Corrosive
  • Causes eye & skin burns and digestive & respiratory burns.
  • Slightly flammable.

ACETIC ACID

  • Found in products that contain vinegar, like condiments(ketchup) & pickled foods.
  • Formula: C2H4O2
  • Molecular weight: 60.05 g/mol

ACETIC ACID PROPERTIES

  • Melting point at 16.7°C (61°F) & boiling point is 118°C (224°F)
  • hygroscopic:meaning that it tends to absorb moisture.
  • Concentrated acetic acid is corrosive & attacks many metals forming flammable or explosive gases.
  • Miscible: capable of being mixed to form a homogenous mixture.
  • Acidity of 4.76
  • Colorless liquid with a pungent odor.
