• Many of the ancient Egypt pyramids are still around today and are some of the most impressive structures ever built by humans.
• They were usually made from limestone and the base was always a perfect square

There are about eighty pyramids known today from ancient Egypt

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST PYRAMID IN EGYPT ?

• The biggest pyramid is the great pyramid Giza which at 146 metres high was the tallest man -made structure in the world for over 3800 years
• The pyramids took thousands of slaves many years to build and scientists have estimated that it took 20,000 workers around 23 years to build the great pyramid of Giza

Where did people live in Egypt?

• Families lived in houses of sun-baked mud.
• They ate bread that they cooked in a clay oven and cooked dishes of vegetables,lamb and goats

Why where the pyramids built

• The pyramids where built for religion purposes
• The pyramids were tombs that were built for the pharaohs -the kings the size of the pyramids was built to show the importance of the person who is buried in it .
• The ancient Egyptians believed that if a person was mummified that they would live forever,so they built these tombs to keep their bodies
