Lion Fish

Physical adaptations

  • When a predator tries to eat the lion fish it has prickles that when the predator makes contact with it it poisons it and the creature dies instantly.
  • It also expand its body wide enough so that the prey cant escape.

Behavioral adaptations

  • It expands its body to close in prey to a corner so it catch and eat its prey fast and easily
  • It also has stripes along its body to help hide itself and warn predators that its poisonous.

Where it lives

  • All Lion Fish live in the Sunlight zone of the ocean.
  • They live in the pacific ocean but because of pet owners not wanting their lion fish they dump them in the Atlantic ocean where they are becoming invasive.

  • Avg. Temp.- 104 to 27 degrees f.
