Steps

  • Print materials, save SMART activity
  • Give diagnostic test
  • Correct and group
  • Guided math 
  • Review

Materials

  • Found on CDs, I will install to your desktop for you. ($$$!)
  • Everything printable.
  • Print teacher guide, test, lessons
  • Look for SMART lesson (Not all have a SMART lesson)

Diagnostic test

  • Give test and a reasonable amount of time
  • Correct, take note of pathways.
  • Group student to lowest pathway.
  • Pathway 1 is closest to meeting outcome
  • Common mistakes - a good read

Grouping

  • Group students according to lowest pathway.
  • Teach pathway, then reassess as it may have "clicked".
  • Small groups within pathways?

Guided Math

  • Use pathways as groups
  • Give related games / activities
  • SMART lesson can be station
  • Teach and reassess using diagnostic test
  • Students can be given either guided or individual work

In my opinion, individual work sheets can be used for group instruction if that is what the student needs. The reverse is also true.

Review

  • Review concept with students.
  • Assign practice from main resource?
  • Summative assessment afterward.
