ST. LOUISE DE MARILLAC

BORN AUGUST 12, 1591, DIED MARCH 15, 1660

EARLY LIFE

  • Born in Meux, France.
  • By 15 she lost both of her parents.
  • Married and had one son.
  • She was into mysticism and the daughters of charity.
  • Later, her husband died

  • She focused on Being a woman of energy,
  • intelligence, determination and devotion.

St. Francis de sales, the bishop of Belley, France and St. Vincent de Paul were all mentors to her at some point in her life.

St. Louise and St. Vincent founded/organized the Daughters of charity.

LATER LIFE/DEATH

  • She helped the daughters of charity
  • until the day she died.
  • Louise de Marillac was canonized in 1934 and
  • declared patroness of social workers in 1960.
