10 Ways To Activate Excellence In You
1. EAT BLUEBERRIES
Blueberries are our favourite pick!
Not only are blueberries high in nutrients and low in calories, they are also a powerful, rich antioxidant & help to increase memory. They also go great in smoothies, muffins and on pancakes! PLUS blue is the main colour of our brand Actuex (so that makes us love them even more!)
2. LISTEN TO MUSIC AND GET THE OFFICE TALKING
Studies have shown there is a positive relationship between background music and working. Music that the listener is more familiar with is likely to have a better impact on focus levels.
A moderate noise level in the office can also stimulate creative energy between teams.
3. WORK WHEN YOU ARE NOT HUNGRY
Hunger is a distraction we are all guilty of having! It is tied to low blood sugar levels that can lead to fatigue and low energy. Ensure you have a regular eating routine by starting the day with a good breakfast.
Stock up on healthy snacks such as nuts, fruit or yoghurt to keep you full throughout your day!
4. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Dehydration can lead to a huge loss of focus not to mention headaches, low mood and sleepiness. Drinking plenty of water can help remove toxins from your bloodstream so keep yourself as hydrated as possible - your body will thank you for it!
5. CREATE AN EFFECTIVE TO-DO LIST
The trick is to write a high impact (HIT) list of tasks to do for the day. From there, slice the list in half and shift the tasks of least priority to a weekly list of tasks or shift to a master list (tasks to accomplish in the long term). Use an excel spreadsheet to get started!
6. EXERCISE REGULARLY
Regular physical activity has been proven to improve brain power, boost endurance and enhance mood. It gives you the energy you need to think clearly and have a fresh approach to ideas. Studies also show that people who exercise in the middle of the day are more likely to be kinder to their co-workers and perform better at work!
7. GET ENOUGH SLEEP
Having a decent amount of shuteye not only keeps you in a better mood and increases concentration, but it also has been linked to an increased lifespan. Lack of sleep is also known to suppress your immune system – and who likes being sick? No one!
8. KEEP IT SIMPLE
Albert Einstein once said “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”.
Focus on the areas within the subject matter that can be simplified. Through simplifying your process and having clarity around the overall objective of the task, you will be able to create clearer messaging that your audience will understand.
9. BREAK OUT OF YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
Routine disruption is one of the most common ways to unlock great ideas. It also forces the brain to reinvent the wheel.
Change the type of book you would normally read, go on an adventure, ask your leader if you can take part in a course so you can learn something new. It can unleash your potential and add some spice to your life!
10. GIVE BACK
Besides feeling good about yourself and doing something for others, giving back has been found to bring huge benefits to your mental and physical health. Altruism generates what is known to be ‘helper’s high’, triggering a part of the brain that makes you feel satisfied and fulfilled. People who engage in charitable acts are also not as depressed.
