Cause of conflict-
Churchmen criticized the administration of the church and began to doubt some of its teachings. Following that, a priest named John Wycliffe decided that everybody should have the right to read the bible and interpret it their own way. Despite protests by the church, followers of Wycliffe translated the Bible from Latin into English in 1382. From that point on, people started rebelling against the church and there became two groups; Catholic and Protestants.

Results
As a result of the reformation, there arose a hostile attitude towards the political, social, spiritual and religious power of the Pope of the day and the clergy in the form of "anti-clericalism". To this was added the crisis over the church's spiritual authority brought about by the Protestant Reformation, giving rise to conflict and a new wave of anti-Catholicism and secularism.
