  • The Swedish wanted a Swedish duke on the Russian Throne
  • Ended with the treaty of Stolbovo
  • Swedish victory redraws borders, Sweden gains much of Finland

Dutch-portuguese war

  • Dutch East-India and Dutch West-India Companies vs. Portuguese Empire
  • 1602-1663
  • Dutch victory in the East, Portuguese victory in South America/Africa
  • Competition for trade routes in Southeast Asia, Africa and South America
  • Resulted in the formation of the Dutch Empire
