  • Born June 16 1829
  • escaped from the San Carlos reservation several times
  • Geronimo served as the Chiricahua Apache's shaman (medicine man) and war leader,
  • Geronimo's camp was attacked on March 5 his wife and three children were killed
  • Delayed Native Americans making progress because he rebelled against Mexican and American forces

ANDREW JACKSON

  • Born march 15 1767
  • Died June 8 1845
  • Some nicknames are king mob, hero of New Orleans, old hickory
  • Was in favor of Indian removal
  • Vice Presidents: Van Buren, Calhoun

CHIEF STANDING BEAR

  • He was a Ponca chief
  • Was relocated to different reservations multiple times
  • Was arrested three times for trying to walk to their home lands
  • Had a landmark court case win Standing bear v. Cook
  • Made it known that Indians have the same rights as native Americans
