Bonnie and Clyde 1930

  • American outlaws and robbers from Dallas  who traveled the United States with their gang during the Great Depression
  •  1934, They were shot to death in a police ambush in  LA.
  • They were known to have killed 9 police officers and several civilians.

Amelia Earhart Flies AROUND the Wold

Amelia disappeared in 1937

  • She was attempting to fly around the world for the 1st time.
  • She was reported missing flying over Howland Island.
  • She received messages that she was lost and running out of fuel.
  • Soon after that she probably tried ditching her plane into the Pacific.
  • No trace of Amelia was ever found.

Walt disney

  • On December 21 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 
  • were the first fully animated film
  • It produced a whopping $1.499 million during the Depression.

Alexander Fleming

  • In 1928 he discovered penicillin by accident
  • He had found a fungus growing on his experiment.
  • So he continued to grow the mold. It eventually grew into a substance. 
  • The substance was found to have killed a number of disease-killing baceria
  • His discovery was very successful and is still a very important use today.

fredrick Banting

  • Created insulin in 1922.
  • Found a special substance in the pancreas of a cow, insulin.
  • He first tested it on a diabetic dog.
  • Now it is used all over the world curing Diabetes
  • It was a very important discovery because it has saved many lives.

St. Valentine's Day Massacre

  • 1929 murder of seven mob leaders of the North Irish Gang. 
  • It was known as the most notorious gangster killing during the Prohibition.
  • The 7 victims each got shot 15 times in the head. 

First Mickey mouse Cartoon

  • In 1928 "Steamboat Willie" was the first Mickey Mouse Cartoon.
  • It was the first cartoon to feature a fully produced soundtrack.
  • It introduced one of the world's most popular cartoon characters.
  • The film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film
  • Registry for being culturally and historically significant.

Start of great depression 1929

  • The great depression lasted til mid 1940's
  • It was a severe world-wide depression 
  • It all began after the fall of stock prices.
  • Income, Taxes, profits, and prices dropped
  • Trade plunged by 50%, Unemployment rose to 25%

Immigration Act 1929

  • Was a US federal law that limited the annual # of immigrants
  • who could be admitted from any country into the US.
  • The law was aimed at further restricting immigration of Jews and Europeans 
  • Also prohibiting the immigration of Arabs, East Asians, and Indians.
  • The purpose of the act was to preserve the ideal of American Homogeneity.

WW2 Starts 1939

  • It was the most wide spread war in history.
  • It began Sept. 1,1939 and ended on Sept. 2,1945.
  • One of the bloodiest wars, 40-50 million deaths.
  • The Allies won

Franklin D. Roosevelt 1933

  • Was elected as the 32nd President
  • Longest serving president 1933-1945
  • Instituted the new deal a variety of  programs to produce-
  • government jobs to the unemployed during Great Depression.
  • Major surviving programs include FDIC and Social seccurity.

First Nonstop transatlantic flight

  • In 1927 by Charles Lindburgh
  • In his airplane called The spirit of St. Lewis
  • He did it to win a $25000 prize.
  • Used his fame to promote the development of commercial Aviation.

Hindenburg disaster 1937

  • The Hindenburg was a German passenger airship.
  • Flight was going from Germany to New Jersey
  • The flight caught on fire and crashed in Lake Hurst,NJ
  • Out of 97 people,13 passengers and 22 crewman died.
  • After the crash, it marked the end of the airship era.

Star Spangled Banner was Adopted

  • It was adopted in 1931 as the U.S National Anthem.
  • Was signed by President Herbert Hoover.

  • McDonald's was founded on May 15,1940 by Rich and maurice McDonald.
  • World's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants.
  • It serves around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries.
  • The company first began as a barbecue restaurant. 
  • McDonald's is one of the most popular fast food restraunts in the world.
