1950'S FASHION

WOMEN HAIRSTYLES

  • The 50s was a time for experimenting. We got many of our new styles for the rich and famous from the French hair fashion.
  • Women started Perming, setting, styling, and spraying there hair.
  • Women started getting things like an artichoke cut, pixie cut, and bouffant hairstyle.
  • Teenage girls began wearing there hair in ponytails.

MENS HAIRSTYLES

  • Mature men often wore there hair short and neat with hair oils.
  • More rebellious wore there hair longer and greased back.
  • Teenage boys wore crew cuts along with greaser comb back.

WOMENS CLOTHING

  • Women were going for more of an hour glass figure wearing foundation garments to hide any budges.
  • After wartime they wanted prettier things.women began wearing full skirts and stuff petticoats, along with highheels.
  • They wore more dresses with bright colors and flowing skirts.

MENS CLOTHING

  • Men's clothing began to get simpler.
  • They got rid of shoulder pads and most double breasted suits.
  • The ties got slimmer and while they still wore hats the brims on them got narrower.
  • There suits were mostly dark blue, dark brown, charcoal, and gray fall new suits.
