  • Cosby sweaters were popping!
  • This is the time where flaming was very popular.
  • Weird Fro's and Mullets were very common.
  • Osh Kosh were particularly popular in the 80s, including overalls and jean shirts and stuff.
  • Converse Chuck Taylors were also very prominent in this time.

Drug Use was very open and heavy

Most of these drugs were new, so they were experimenting.

The Crack Epidemic

  • In 1984 through the 90s people who admitted to using crack, jumped up from 4.2 million, to 5.8 million!
  • 1986 crack was only available in 27 states, in 1987 it jumped to all but 4 states

  • Crack came to US by the help of the US!
  • America wanted land in Nicaragua, so the CIA helped distribute crack to various cities for use of the land in Nicaragua.
  • Huge mistake by the US.

Huge increase of crime rate in the 1980s

  • Crime had reached it's pinnacle in the 1980s, since then the U.S. has dropped severely
  • Cities that had the highest crime rates, also had considerably high amount of crack sales.
  • The Miami Riots, a cop killed an innocent, people went WILD!
