  • 330 billion web pages
  • 20 million books and texts
  • 4.5 million audio recordings (including 180,000 live concerts)
  • 4 million videos (including 1.6 million Television News programs)
  • 3 million images
  • 200,000 software programs

advantage

  • helpful for historical reasons. Physical artifacts may get worn out in few years.
  • ACCESS TO INFORMATION.
  • Searching of the contents of the digital versions can be made powerful and this can help

disadvantage

  • Time and Money is required for such efforts.
  • Chances of loosing out part/ whole of some artifacts become more during the archival process.
  • Maintainance of such a system on a continuos basis for 24x7 is a challenge
