BLAISE PASCAL

  • Was born June 19, 1623 and died on August 19, 1662.
  • He was born in Clermont,Ferrand; Auvergne, France.
  • He was a child prodigy that was educated by his father.
  • His mother was Antoinette Begon, and his father was Étienne Pascal.
  • Pascal was in poor health and died 2 months after his 39th birthday.

PASCALS INVENTIONS

  • Pascal invented over 20 types of mechanical calculators.
  • He invented the syringe and the hydraulic press by experimenting with atmospheric pressure.
  • He invented the roulette machine by accident when he was trying to invent a perpetual motion machine.
  • Pascal also laid the foundation of the probability theory.
  • He created a table, now known as Pascal's triangle, that the sum of the two numbers above a block is the number of the block below.

GALILEO GALILEI

  • Galileo Galilei was born on February 15, 1564 in Pisa, Italy.
  • He died on January 8, 1642 at age 77 and was buried in a small room of the Basilica of Santa Croce.
  • In 1737 he was reburied in a memorial made in his honor in the main body of the Basilica of Santa Croce.
  • When he was reburied a tooth and three fingers were taken from his corpse and were later placed in the Galileo Museum.

GALILEO'S INVENTIONS

  • Galileo made a telescope with about 3x resolution originally and later made one upmto 30x.
  • He improved the earlier models of the Geometric and Military Compass which helps align cannons and measure gunpowder.
  • He built a thermometer by using air in a bulb to move water in an attached tube.
  • He is credited with, being one of the first to understand sound frequency.
  • Also Galileo designed the first pendulum clock, but he never finished making it.

NICOLAUS Copernicus

  • He was born on February 19, 1473 in Torún, Poland.
  • Copernicus died on May 24, 1543 at age 70.
  • He was the youngest of 4 children and his sister Katharina left 5 children that Copernicus looked after until he died.
  • Copernicus never married was a physician, polyglot, classics scholar, translator, governor, diplomat, and economist
  • Though Copernicus only had a degree in canon law.

COPERNICUS'S INVENTIONS

  • Copernicus invented the idea of heliocentrism.
  • Also he created a heliocentric model to show his theory.
  • (Copernicus's birthplace.)
