Why have I picked this topic?

I chose this topic because to saw how human activities really pollute the environment and it saddened me. I feel that we should give back what we take. Nature is a beautiful thing that should be enhanced and not be demolished.

Nature is a living thing and it should be given a chance. I don't think we should have other things take the blame for what we humans do to the environment.

FACT:

By 2000, the world’s chemical production had increased 400 fold since 1930.

How is the environment in danger?

Pollution and other environmental issues can endanger and could even make plants and animals go extinct. Man made items plug up the environment, and gases make the air very harmful to even us humans.

HARMFUL ITEMS

  • Cars
  • Plastic bottles and bags
  • Factories
  • Non-recyclable items
  • Oils
  • Fossil fuel

FACT:

Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 sea mammals are killed by pollution every year.

Why do we care?

It doesn't just endanger plants and animals, it endangers us too.

Long-term exposure to air pollution, for example, can lead to chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer and other diseases.

Toxic chemicals that accumulate in top predators can make some species unsafe to eat

These are just a few of the effects of pollution for just us humans. There are so many other side effects of pollution to the rest of the world.

FACT:

People who live in places with high levels of air pollutants have a 20% higher risk of death.

What can we do?

Use natural energy

  • Natural energy
  • Recycle
  • Electric and hybrid cars

Recycle
Get out and by yourself a recycle bin. Recycling will help reuse the items you thought was no longer useful .

SHOPPING

  • Buy used items
  • Watch what you buy- don't buy items that endanger the environment
Even watching what you buy can make a difference!

FACT:

Recycling and composting prevented 85 million tons of material away from being disposed of in 2010.

Where are the trash and pollution ?

Land Pollution
A little over half , 54%, of the waste on earth is gathered in landfills. Not to mention a lot of the trash is just lying around in the streets and trees.

Sea Pollution
Most of earths pollution is in the sea which is bad because an estimated 50-80% of all life on earth is found under the ocean surface.

Do I see this topic somewhere in my life?

I want to help and make a difference in the world when I grow older. I especially want to help in the environment and making it a place I would love to see and live in.

FACT:

783 million people do not have access to clean water.

Summary
We need to make pollution and global warming a known subject. It is a problem not a lot of us know or care about. It doesn't just affect us it effects everyone who lives on earth.

Global warming has lead to many death and not just to animals and plants but to humans too. It has been researched that 7 million deaths annually have been linked to air pollution.

So you now know what global warming is. Why not be part of the solution instead of the problem? Little things like picking up your trash is so so helpful to the environment. And the reward? A better community for future generations.
