19-year-old Eidson took full advantage of his pole starting position to lead into the first corner from Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing teammates Aaron Telitz and Nico Jamin. Eidson led all 20 laps to take the victory but was pushed to the limit all of the way by Telitz. The pair of former Team USA Scholarship winners secured the top two positions for the second day running, with Frenchman Jamin once again rounding out the podium in third.

Eidson also had to contend with a full-course caution, which came after seven laps when Garth Rickards (Team Pelfrey) crashed out of seventh place in Turn Two. The race leader timed his restart to perfection but was never able to eke out a substantial advantage over Telitz, who kept the pressure on in second place. Telitz set the fastest lap of the race on Lap 19 to claim an additional championship point, but there was no way past Eidson who cemented his early series lead.

John Cummiskey Racing teammates and fellow Australian rookies Jordan Lloyd and Anthony Martin fought out an entertaining battle for fourth place. Lloyd seemed to have the edge in the early stages but it was a different story after the restart as Martin remained glued to his countryman's tail before making a pass in Turn 10 with three laps to go. The move earned Martin, who finished fourth for the second day in a row, the Replay XD Move of the Race Award.

Sixth place was taken by Canadian karting ace Parker Thompson, who bounced back well for JDC MotorSports following an incident at the beginning of yesterday's race.

Germany's Keyvan Andres Soori (ArmsUp Motorsports), the youngest driver in the field at age 15, took seventh ahead of the Palmetto, Fla.-based Team Pelfrey trio of Nikita Lastochkin, Luke Gabin and Ayla Agren. Both Andres Soori and Gabin, the winner of last year's Skip Barber Championship Shootout and a MAZDASPEED scholarship to graduate into USF2000, also had been eliminated in the first-lap incident on Saturday.

Andrew List (D2D Motorsports) earned the Tilton Hard Charger Award for moving up five places during the race from his 17th starting position. The PFC Award was presented to the winning car owner, Augie Pabst, and the Staubli Award to Telitz

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda will return to action, once again in support of the Verizon IndyCar Series, at NOLA Motorsports Park, just a few miles from downtown New Orleans, La., on April 10-12.

Jake Eidson (#22 OMP/Bell Helmets/1st Bank/SAFEisFAST.com/Team USA Scholarship-Pabst Racing): "You talk about having weekends like this, but to actually have one is definitely easier said than done. Everyone at Pabst Racing has worked so hard, especially since Winterfest. We weren't sure what kind of results we were going to have - obviously we were aiming for the win but to actually execute it is a relief. It was close today. On the restart, I didn't get all the way down into first gear coming out of Turn One, so when I came back to gas on the acceleration, it was a bit slow. Luckily, I was able to make it out of there without being side by side for too long. I saw the two Cape cars battling coming out of Turn Four so it gave me some breathing room. It was nerve wracking, but thankfully we didn't have any issues."

The FIA8860 specification requires the helmet to be certified to the Snell SA standard plus pass an additional single impact from 5 meters to help protect against more massive impacts and withstand a special shell hardness test to help prevent objects from penetrating the shell. Bell was the first helmet company to introduce an FIA8860 certified model in 2004. Since the initial introduction, Bell’s HP helmets have been constantly improved and the current models are a direct result of intense research and development and close collaboration with the world’s best drivers, teams and testing facilities. Test results show that in certain impacts, the Bell HP helmets absorb up to 40% more energy than standard models.

The HP7 features a high-strength, ultra-lightweight shell made using aerospace and military grade carbon made in Bell Racing’s high-pressure proprietary molding system that allows pressures twice as high as conventional autoclaves. The shell and shield design has been optimized by moving the shield pivot pointer to a lower position to improve acoustic comfort, aerodynamic behavior and energy absorbing capacities. The HP7 liner system is all new featuring a multi-piece, multi-density high-impact custom bead absorbing liner with a reinforced layer of Kevlar for added protection. The helmet’s redesigned ergonomic interior incorporates multiple density comfort foams and padding to ensure the best possible fit to accommodate a variety of head shapes.

Ventilation has been improved with the introduction of 14 air intake and extraction channels strategically placed around the shell and a duel chamber air intake, maximizing airflow around the head and the face. The HP7 has titanium hardware and an optical grade injected Double Screen Anti Fog (DSAF) shield, with variable thickness exceeding 5mm in the field of vision, setting a new standard for clarity and fog control. The shield seal has also been improved with the introduction of a hollow synthetic rubber gasket ensuring that air and water especially in wet conditions can’t penetrate into the helmet through the eyeport. The helmet’s chin guard face piece is removable, available in various thicknesses to accommodate different cheek and jaw shapes. The integrated channels in the face piece offer multiple options to install integrated drinking tube systems and radio microphone systems.

The HP7 is also available without chin bar duckbill (front spoiler). Additional chin bar and top gurneys (sold separately) are available to customize the aerodynamic performance of the helmet.

The HP7 is certified to the Snell SA2010 and FIA8860-2010 standards and is available in an all carbon finish in sizes 7 1/8 minus (57-) to 7 5/8 plus (61+). The helmet takes the SE07 3MM shield and SV SE07 pivot system. It comes equipped with Hans Anchors, double screen anti fog visor insert and fleece lined helmet bag.

Tyler Thomas takes back-to-back victories in 305 Sprint Car Shootout at Las Cruces, N.M.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (March 29, 2015) –Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, Okla., took back-to-back victories Friday and Saturday in the 6th annual Border International Trucks 305 Sprint Car Shootout on Southern New Mexico Speedway’s 5/16th-mile clay oval.

Thomas made a last lap pass of John Carney II of El Paso, Texas, to win the 25-lap preliminary feature on Friday night for his first sprint car victory and led all 30 laps Saturday night to earn the $5,000 first-place purse. The 19-year-old Thomas drove the No. 21 BC Fundz-backed car for team owners Robert and Christie Miller of El Paso, Texas.

“It’s a great feeling to have won my first and second sprint car races,” Thomas said. “I didn’t think my first wins in a winged sprint car would come this quickly. They’ve been a whole different animal to drive and this win is really special to me. I can’t thank Robert and Christie Miller enough for giving me a chance to come down here and race their car.”

Thomas’ triumph on Friday guaranteed a spot at the front of the field on Saturday.

“We re-drew the No. 1 pill and sat on pole,” Thomas said. “There wasn’t much excitement. We lost the lead (to Carney II) for a straightaway when I got caught in traffic (on lap 21), but I got around him in turns three and four and began to pull away. All the stars lined up. I’ll take it. It’s a good start to more success, for sure.”

Thomas finished third in his heat on Friday and started sixth in the feature.

“We had a great car all weekend,” he said. “We got some good passing points for finishing third in the heat and after the pill re-draw, started sixth. We sat in third for a while and I started to search the racetrack. I found a different line and the car took off. I didn’t know it was the last lap. I slid John (Carney II) in turns one and two and took the lead. I didn’t know I’d won until race control radio told me. I thought ‘Wow.’ It was pretty cool.”

The races at Southern New Mexico Speedway were the ninth and 10th in winged sprint cars for Thomas. He has run in eight of them for the Millers, plus two more for them in a non-winged sprint car.

Thomas continues to prove his ability to adapt to different race cars and win. He has previous victories in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series, the Pro Late Model stock cars at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway and in Micro Sprints. Thomas also had an outstanding career in karting with multiple victories.

“I’m really happy to have won for Bob and Christie Miller and to represent their sponsors, BC Fundz, Shark Racing Engines and Rightway Logistics,” Thomas said.

Donny Schatz Wins Hard Fought Mini Gold Cup Victory

It was the second win in a week for Schatz as he took over the points lead

CHICO, Calif. - March 28, 2015 - Donny Schatz scored his third win of the season Saturday night at Silver Dollar Speedway's Mini Gold Cup, but his competition did not make it easy for him.

Schatz led the field through the opening laps in his No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies car and held off Daryn Pittman as a series of cautions flew. The first caution came on lap four, followed by one on lap nine and then on the subsequent restart attempt. After Rico Abreu got off track and brought out the caution on lap 11, Kerry Madsen was able to battle past Pittman to take over the second position. Terry McCarl brought out a pivotal caution on lap 18 as he spun into the infield off of turn two.

As the field returned to green, Kerry Madsen got his opportunity to take on Schatz.

"I figured I'd go to the top because there was rubber, but there wasn't really rubber at that spot and I thought I've actually got a really good shot here and got a really good restart," Madsen said.

"I know my crew was probably calling me every name in the book on that restart but it started to lay a little rubber there and you're damned if you do and damned if you don't," Schatz said. "And I figured if I could get a run off the top. Kerry just got a really good start."

When the field came around to take lap 18, Madsen led Schatz in his No. 29 American Racing Custom Wheels car. Farther back, 18-year-old Tanner Thorson, who started the night in 13th, had been slowly progressing through the field. On lap 18, as Madsen battled past Schatz, Thorson took over the eighth spot.

Schatz began to catch Madsen again on lap 23. Schatz worked the track looking for the right line and almost had it as the two drivers came off of turn four headed to the start finish line. They battled side by side, but Madsen held the lead. The battle continued on laps 24 and 25. As they looked to complete lap 26, Schatz finally found a way around Madsen.

"I pushed pretty hard for a while but it got the rubber down in the middle and we were just a little too tough for the rubber," Madsen said. "Obviously Donny was way better."

By lap 27, Thorson moved his Richie Rich Motorsports car into the sixth position. One lap later, Schatz, the leader, caught lapped traffic and begin to work his way through. This closed the gap for Madsen, who tried to use the traffic as a pick around Schatz. Schatz was able to maintain the lead though.

Over the course of four laps, Thorson swiftly moved forward to the third position. In traffic, he found a way around Madsen on lap 36 to take over the second position. He set his sights on Schatz. While Schatz had built up a strong lead, Thorson cut into it lap by lap.

"Towards the end you could feel the tires were going and you were sliding around," Schatz said. "We ran the hardest thing we could. Racing with Kerry we probably used them up more than we should have but it got us the win so that's what's important."

In the end, Thorson ran out of time to catch Schatz.

"We were really good there in the beginning all the way throughout the race and I feel like a few more laps and I probably could have given Donny a run for his money," said Thorson, who finished the night in second. "Good job to him."

The career best World of Outlaws finish came in Thorson's fourth ever series start.

Schatz's win was the second in a week. Prior to his win last weekend, the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing driver had not won in California since 2012. He credited his team for trying new things and adapting.

"We haven't been very good on the short track stuff the last several years," Schatz said. "They've worked hard and tried things outside the box trying to get better. It's worked. Half the battle is getting qualified. And they've definitely got it qualifying better."

After leading eight laps, Madsen finished the night in third - his best finish so far this season

"We're extremely happy to come home with a podium," he said. "Chico has never been my best track so it's been a fantastic night for us."

The St. Marys, New South Wales, Australia native also took home his fourth quick time of the year - the most of any driver.

Jason Johnson was the night's KSE Racing Hard Charger award after advancing 16 positions to finish in eighth.

How it works.

Create a 2-minute video containing all original content and upload it between April 1st and July 1st. It’s really that simple.

Can it feature onboard footage? Certainly.

Should it show Bell Helmets in action? Most definitely.

Does it need to be only race footage? Nope. We want to see anything that you think illustrates your passion for racing. It can be late nights in the shop, card games in the RV on the way to the race, and even post-race good times. Basically whatever you think demonstrates racing “through your visor.” How do we choose a winner? We want a championship effort…your “A” game - The same kind of effort that you put into your love of racing. The winner won’t be drawn randomly out of a hat, so put the pedal to the metal and give us your best. Our team at Bell Racing will be reviewing all of the entries, narrowing them down to 20 finalists and posting them online at Bellracing.com. Once the finalists have been posted, family, friends and fans will all have the chance to cast their vote for the winner of the $10,000 Grand Prize.
