  • One of their forms for expressing their tradition is
  • Shinto. Shinto means "way of the gods". According
  • to Shinto, rocks, trees, rivers, and other natural objects
  • are home to divine spirits. Mount. Fuji is one of their
  • most honored objects. They also had disasters like....

JANESE SOCIETY

  • Early Japan was divided into clans.
  • They were made up of family related by blood/ marriage.
  • These clans fought for the land because so little was available.
  • The clans were lead by nobles. Shinto religion was a strong
  • unifying force in the society.

RELIGION

  • Shokotu founds Buddhism interesting.
  • He started promoting it. Later, it blended with
  • their customs. It became one of their aspects.

EMPERORS

  • The Yamato clan is where the first emperors came from.
  • Since rarely changed emperors, the country appeared stable.
  • One of the most important emperors was Prince Shotoku.
