The road of "obedience to Christ"
The Big Question:
"At which point is a person saved?"
Do we have to do something?
Or is salvation wholly dependent upon God?
Our salvation is ascribed by God to several agents:
Motive Agent:
God's Grace
Romans 3:24
"and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus"
Ready Agent
Christ
Acts 13:38
"Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything"
Procurable Agent
Blood
Romans 5:9
"Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God"
Immediate Agent
Authority
I Corinthians 6:11
"And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God"
Human Basic Agent
Faith
Romans 5:1
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"
Human Active Agent
Works
James 2:24
"You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone"
The Road of Obedience
Hebrews 5:8-9
"Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him."
Obedience
Matthew 7:21
"Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
Are you on the road of obedience?
