4 States of matter

By:Skylar heydon

Four states of matter

  • solid
  • liquid
  • gas
  • plasma

Why are there different states of matter?

  • Beacuse of there attraction between particles.

Solid

  • The particles in a solid are close together.
  • The particles can vibrate but they can't more.
  • A solid has a definite shape and definite volume.

Liquid

  • Particles of a liquid are tightly packed but can still move around.
  • A liquids particles move freely.
  • A liquid has a definite volume and fixed shape.
  • 70.8% of earth is liquid

Gas

  • Particles of a gas are very far apart and move freely
  • There is no attraction between the particles
  • No definite volume or shape
  • Gases flow easily.

Gas

  • Particles of a gas are very far apart and move freely
  • There is no attraction between the particles
  • No definite volume or shape
  • Gases flow easily.

Plasma

  • The particles are very spread out
  • Unbound positive and negative chargers
  •  No definite volume or shape
  • 99 percent of the universe is plasma

How does matter change stattes

  • By adding or subtracting thermal energy
