THE COASTAL PLAINS REGION

GEOGRAPHICALLY FEATURES: CLIMATE, LANDFORM, AND VEGETATION

  • Landforms: wet and dry land, Gulf of Mexico, Rio Grande River, Bayous, Forests, Barrier Islands
  • Climate 30 to 50 inches of rain, and temperatures generally warm all year
  • Vegetation: Sowed corn, beans, plants, and squash

ECONOMIC RESOURCES: CROPS AND PRODUCTS, HARVESTED, EARN A LIVING

  • People earn a living by farming, ranching, fishing, and shipping
  • Crops and Products:crops, sowed corn, beans, plants, squash, oil and gas, acorns, walnuts, pecans these stuff are also harvested.

MAJOR CITIES

  • There are many major cities in the coastal plains region like Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Galveston, Brownsville, Waco, and Laredo

FIRST TEXANS/NATIVE AMERICANS

  • The Native Americans ate prickly pear fruit, sowed corn, beans, squash, acorns, pecans, walnuts, seafood, and Buffaloes.
  • They lived in clusters also in permanent villages.
  • Had houses shaped like cones

THE NATIVE AMERICANS DAILY LIFES

  • They were famers.
  • Gathered vegetables and grains also gathered nuts and berries
  • Hunted fish, deer, small animals, and buffalo
  • Lived in permanent villages
  • The tribes names are Caddo, Karankawa, Atakapa, Coahuiltecan, Wichita, and Tonkawa.
