BY: DREW, BRANDON, KORBIN, DAIJON

THE CASTLE

  • Your majesty, today we will be
  • Explaining about
  • The defense of the castle
  • And what to do to on offense.

CASTLE DEFENSE

  • The castle was used for protecting
  • its inhabitants, holding down territory,
  • keeping invaders out, and could be used
  • as a safe house during an invasion in a nearby
  • castle, town, or village.

WHO LIVED IN CASTLES?

  • Usually royalty or lords lived
  • there and of course their servants.
  • There was also common workers
  • such as traders, fishers, peasants, and
  • of course farmers!

THE ROLE OF THE KNIGHTS

  • They defended the women, weak, and royalty.
  • They protected the castle from invasion.
  • They were highly trained military men
  • High in the code of chivalry and rode the best horses.

PARTS OF THE LORD'S MANOR

  • One defensive structure that is effective is the arrow loops.
  • These were designed for archers to shoot at the enemy.
  • For an effective castle defense there would be
  • arrow loops all around to prevent siege tower attacks.

PARTS OF A LORD'S MANOR CONT.

  • The moat to keep attackers away from the castle.
  • It was filled with either feces or water.
  • It would take time for the attackers to cross it.

PARTS OF A LORD'S MANOR CONT.

  • The towers make it harder for the
  • attackers to kill the archers.
  • This also gave the archers a better viewing point.

CASTLE ATTACK

  • Now we shall be switching to offense.
  • This is just as important as the defense.
  • Knowing the enemies strategies and weapons
  • will give an upper hand in the battle.

CASTLE

  • Was used to hold won territory.
  • It represented a group or countries land.
  • It usually also meant great wealth and power

CASTLES TARGETTED

  • Were attacked for the riches inside.
  • Capturing could mean taking territory.
  • This would help a country grow.

ATTACK STRATEGIES

  • Usually neighboring countries
  • would fight each other.
  • They would use catapults and knights.
  • Using all sorts of weapons can help take over a castle.

BEGINNING A SIEGE

  • It usually begins when a country tries to grow.
  • This would require more territory.
  • If there was any unclaimed land they would take it.
  • Usually all the free land was already claimed.

4 THINGS TO ATTACK

  • Use catapults to hit the walls and defenders.
  • Then send out the army to breach.
  • Have archers with longbows sniping people on the walls.
  • Take over all the defensive structures once breached.

OTHER METHODS

  • You could wait it out and starve the castle.
  • Attack when supplies are coming in because then the
  • drawbridge would be down and they wouldn't expect that.

THE END

HOPE THIS WAS USEFUL AND WILL HELP ATTACK AND DEFEND CASTLES.
