CHANG JIANG(YANGTZE) River

  • 1. Longest River in Asia
  • 2. Major Ancient Trade Route
  • 3. Floods frequently
  • 4. Still used to carry most of China's goods
  • 5. "Chang Jiang" means "Long River"

HUANG HE RIVER

  • 1. Starts in the Kunlun Mts. to the West
  • 2. Has caused terrible flooding in the past, destroying homes
  • 3. Empties into the Yellow Sea
  • 4. Called "China's Sorrow" due to its destructive flooding
  • 5. "Huang He" means "Yellow River"

KUNLUN MOUNTAINS

  • Located in Western China
  • Decent Farm Land
  • Source of the Huang He and Yangtze Rivers
  • Tibet is nearby
  • Overflows it's rivers often

XI JIANG RIVER

  • Flows into the South China Sea
  • River's valley is rich with mineral resources
  • Forms an estuary with 3 other rivers
  • Provides water for some of Southern China
  • Also known as the West River

YALU JIANG RIVER

  • About 500 miles long
  • Forms the Border between North Korea and China
  • Rich with minerals
  • Was used in 1950 by China to enter the Korean War
  • Flows into the Korean Bay
