• Islam has five primary obligations
• Each Muslim must fulfill these
• They are as follows:

SHAHADA

• Profession of Faith:
• "There is no God but the one God and
• Muhammad is the messenger of God."

SALAT

PRAYER

• Pray toward holy city, Mecca
• Five daily Prayers: 1. Dawn,
• 2. Noon, 3. Mid-Afternoon
• 4. Sunset, and 5. Evening

ZAKAT

CHARITY

• Social responsibility
• Payment of portion of net-worth
• Given to neediest in community
• Equal to 2.5 percent of wealth

SAWM

FASTING

• Act of deep personal worship
• Exercise in self-control
• Abstention from eating, drinking
• Dawn to dusk
• Ends with 3 Day celebration

HAJJ

PILGRIMAGE

• Once in a lifetime duty
• Physically & financially able
• Exemplifies Faith & Unity
• Over two million Muslims
• From all over the world
